Danny Chang - the man behind The Fyreworks

"In the early seventies, at the age of sixteen, I had a residency playing guitar in a dance band. One night a stranger introduced me to two albums by Van der Graaf Generator and Gentle Giant. The next day, I threw in my gig, grew my hair and formed a band, writing and playing what was termed as progressive music. Although none of this material ever made vinyl, all these years later I was still able to recall a couple of chord sequences and thought if I could find like minded people to help me write the songs, I would at last be able to record the album I always wanted to."

The Fyreworks features Danny Chang (guitar & backing voice), Rob Reed (keyboards & slide guitar), Doug Sinclair (bass), Andy Edwards (lead voice & guitar) & Tim Robinson (drums & percussion). After playing and recording in the early seventies, and appearing on tour with such bands as Quintessence, Pink Faries and Patto, Danny moved into mainstream rock with the critically received Just Good Friends. After the band's demise, Danny had success as a composer for television and film. In early 1995 Danny decided to return to his musical roots and hired a remote farm house deep in the heart of Wales. Here he started writing and track laying what was to become the Fyreworks CD.

Rob is an acclaimed multi-instrumentalist and producer, and is responsible for two highly successful CD's 'For King And Country' & 'Pictures From The Other Side', both released on the Dutch SI label. In 1994 he produced and contributed keyboards to the Ezra debut CD 'Shapes'. He took time out from completing the Cyan CD ' The Creeping Vine' to co-write, produce and play keyboards on the Fyreworks album.

Doug, inspired by rock and soul of the Seventies and Eighties, has played a huge variety of music, including touring with soul stars Womack and Womack and Eddie Floyd, modern classical, and rock recordings with Simon Phillips (Toto). Doug has also been a member of Steve Hackett's live band.

Andy is the lead singer and guitarist with the band Ezra. Having heard 'Shapes', their successful debut album, Andy was approached by Danny to bring his unique vocal style to the Fyreworks and to contribute to the writing.

Tim played with Cardiff band The Pier, touring the UK, Holland & Germany. While appearing on several recent CD's, the Fyreworks project represents a return after many years to playing some seriously strange time signatures. Tim also guests on the Cyan CD 'The Creeping Vine'.
